Myrtle Beach's Boardwalk and Promenade, a 1.2 mile traditional raised wooden boardwalk following along the oceanfront between 14th Avenue and 2nd Aveneue Pier, was listed in 2010 as one of America's Best Beach Boardwalks by Travel & Leisure and as one of the Top U.S. Boardwalks by National Geographic. One visit here, and you'll discover why it has become one of Myrtle Beach's favorite attractions.
The boardwalk is comprised of three sections: the northern portion travels through the dunes from the 14th Avenue North Pier to Plyler Park; the mid-section runs from Plyler Park to 8th Avenue North, here is where you will find oceanfront dining and shopping; the southern portion of the path follows to the 2nd Avenue pier and has an oceanfront park. All along the boardwalk you'll find areas with scenic overlooks, benches to stop and rest, and plenty of busy boardwalk shops.
The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is certainly a great area to spend some time visiting during the day, but don't forget to come back in the evenings for the free nightly events held here throughout the summer: Sunday nights feature an amazing drum display; Monday nights is Kids Carnival; Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights you'll find the Live Concert series at Plyler Park; each Wednesday view the beach's best fireworks display from a spot along the boardwalk; and Friday nights feature DixieLand on the Boardwalk with a strolling Dixieland Band.
Everyone loves the mix of sea air and ocean views that comes with a leisurely stroll along a beach boardwalk and Myrtle Beach's Boardwalk and Promenade gives you everything you would expect to find and more!
